I actually just knew your record and none of the rest of the nominees at that point. And I am still sure that you were the best in there. You should have won!
And now stop getting in trouble (that kidney, the flying trophy...) and be in one piece for Aylesbury. Can't wait to see you again, guys!
2009 seems like a lifetime ago, and it is. How this band have never received more recognition is beyond me. I knew them from “we just did what happened and no one came” I love that album and now it seems like a prediction. Well Tim some of us did arrive and we are still here. I watched the 09 mercury and really hoped you would win but that was not to be. Keep doing what you are doing, plenty of us enjoy it. You are right to be so proud of a mercury nomination when there is so much competition. I do miss Anthony’s banjo though. It added such a different colour.
Bless you, Ross ! I did ponder if that title might become a self-fulfilling prophecy, but I think what it does is show the difference between a social media follow and actual engagement. Better 10 people engaging than 10,000 scrolling past you on their way to the next cat video. Or banjo video (I miss it too... Haven't played mine for a while. Might be time !) ;-)
I was there. . . or at least watching the telly. . . and I remember that ‘ssssssss’. . . I didn’t quite manage to telescope that level of expectation into the requisite milliseconds but I do recall the disappointment when SBP didn’t prevail. . .
Yes ! Throwing no shade anywhere else, but I really did think that a miracle had occurred. It was a weird, momentary, bone-deep conviction... one that I now roundly ignore whenever it happens. Unless it's about when the bins go out, or the cat being sick.
There is no frame ! All I had to go on was what other people do at award ceremonies (Kanye excepted). Also, you really need to form a post-punk band called Garage Band Nephew, or I will ;-)

Can't wait either, Isa ! And, yes - I'll try to be careful, although I do have to change strings on three guitars, which can be *lethal*.
You better start doing it early! xx

No frame of reference (other than garage band nephew) but I love this.

Thanks Tim. It maybe worth remembering the positives too. You have a mate called Steve Jansen. Bloody impressive, I wish I did !!!
He’d love that. Will ponder!
